UCSC’s chapter of Golden Key International Honour Society was awarded multiple honors at Golden Key’s annual International Summit in July. The chapter was awarded a Key Chapter Award. The Key Chapter Award recognizes chapters who exemplify outstanding achievement and/or contributions in the area of Golden Key’s values and three pillars of academics, leadership, and service. To be considered for this award the chapter first had to meet Gold Standing, which included meeting requirements in the categories of leadership operations, academic recognition, service activities, and chapter awareness. The chapter’s Key Award application was supported by our Faculty Director of Honors, Matt O’Hara and Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education, Richard Hughey.

Breanne Krause (Crown, ’18) was also recognized as the Regional Student Leader of the Year for Golden Key Region 8. This award recognized Breanne for her outstanding commitment to the Society and display of effective campus and community leadership while maintaining superior academic performance. Breanne is currently Golden Key’s chapter president and has previously served in the roles of treasurer and PR director—for a period of time while studying abroad in Australia!

Golden Key provides students with leadership, networking, and scholarship opportunities, among other great benefits. There is a one-time, lifetime membership fee to join and new eligible UCSC students are scheduled to receive their invitation to membership this fall.
