Work is underway across many offices to improve the MyUCSC Student Advising Summary. The project is exploring opportunities to enhance functionality, while incorporating community feedback, and has already released a few long-time requested features. The Student Advising Summary is a module within MyUCSC that provides information regarding a student's academic record and progress and is available to students, and faculty and staff with access.
Recent improvements include the addition of student Original Admit Term and Original Type fields. These fields help advisors understand a student’s academic journey and aid in guiding discussions on academic planning and career goals.
Coming soon, modifications are in progress to the Statistics section of the Student Advising Summary that enable a live data feed, where previously data was updated once per quarter. A Major Declaration Quarter Count field will also be available within the updated Statistics section, reducing the manual calculation that advisors previously performed based on data from multiple pages within MyUCSC.
These and future planned improvements were informed by a survey conducted in May. Respondent suggestions included remodeling the Student Advising Summary from a tabbed interface to a one page view (incorporating a similar look and feel as the recently released Degree Progress Report), exploring the incorporation of additional data fields and student ID photos.
