As graduation 2019 nears, UC Santa Cruz is taking the opportunity to recognize our students' accomplishments through Student Achievement Week, which takes place June 3-7. Designed to highlight achievements in research, scholarships and other academic activities, many students will present their work during a multitude of events, including the Annual Print Sale, art exhibitions, theater productions, and poster symposiums.
Student Achievement Week is coordinated by the Office of Campus Advising Coordination, which also hosts or co-hosts some important events designed to showcase student success on our campus. These events include the Chancellor’s and Steck Awards Luncheon, the Koret Scholars Undergraduate Research Slam, and the Phi Beta Kappa Induction Ceremony. Events hosted by other divisions, include the First Generation Initiative, UCSC Games Showcase, and The Humanities Spring Awards. These are just a few examples of the more than 20 events that take place across the campus.
The Office of Campus Advising Coordination has two new part-time employees spearheading honors and research initiatives for the campus under the supervision of Don Bard who joined the office last April as Coordinator of Undergraduate Honors and Research Opportunities. Hayden Ryan and Laura McShane joined the office to assist in supporting the College Scholars and Koret Grant programs. Working with Faculty Director Matt O’Hara, Don, Hayden, and Laura work to encourage and enhance the academic experience of students who seek exceptional challenge and growth.
