2023-24 Crown, Rachel Carson and Porter College Provost Searches

September 12, 2023

The Division of Undergraduate Education is conducting searches for the next college provosts at CrownRachel Carson, and Porter Colleges. Applicants with expertise in leadership, administration, or fundraising, as well as those with a history of college engagement are strongly encouraged to apply.

College provosts are the academic leaders of their respective colleges, in charge of shaping the college’s curriculum, overseeing faculty, guiding students on their academic journey, fostering intellectual engagements throughout the campus, and nurturing connections with alumni and supporters.

College provosts are members of the Council of Provosts. Working together, they develop and manage programs to support students, faculty, and alumni throughout the campus. Recent and ongoing projects include the Core courses, College 1, and the Academic Literacy Curriculum; minor and certificate development; the credit-bearing summer orientation courses; improvements to the campus academic integrity processes; and strategic planning following the colleges’ first-ever external review.

College provosts are key campus scholar-administrators focused on the academic programs of their college, alumni connections, faculty community, and a multitude of other issues.

Compensation is based on the underlying faculty appointment, plus a stipend. Please see CAPM 306.240 for compensation details, which include summer salary, a stipend, course release, sabbatical credit, and housing.

Each position will begin July 1, 2024 and has a three-year appointment.

The initial review date for the position is Friday, October 13, 2023.

Interested applicants will need to complete the application form, where you will be asked to discuss your past and/or future contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion, campus leadership, college leadership, curriculum planning and faculty development, student development and staff supervision, and alumni engagement and fundraising.

Please feel free to contact me, or any current or past provost, to discuss these positions.

Sincerely,

Richard Hughey
