Undergraduate Student Success Team Final Report

The Undergraduate Student Success (USS) Team was formed in December 2012 at the request of EVC Galloway to consider ways to improve retention, graduation, and time to degree.

The attached final report, Undergraduate Student Success: Building on the Past, Changing the Future, includes the two immediate actions required for progress and the three administrative and academic strategies from the April 22, 2013, executive summary, as well as the complete set of recommendations and initiatives evaluated by the team, and the 350 Ideas drawn from many sources that led to these recommendations.

The actions and strategies for immediate consideration include:

Action 1: Appoint a limited-term “Champion” to catalyze rapid reforms.

Action 2: Expand access to information that will empower students, advisors, programs, and administration to make decisions crucial to student success.

Strategy 1:  Increase On-Campus Jobs for Students.

Strategy 2:  Engage with student mental health, alcohol, and other drug issues.

Strategy 3:  Develop Degree Paths that Increase Success.

It is our hope that this report will stimulate action and discussion about undergraduate student success throughout all parts of our campus.
